Welbilt celebrates the life of Rick Caron with dedication ceremony

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL – Welbilt, Inc. hosted a dedication ceremony on April 21 to celebrate the life of Richard N. “Rick” Caron, Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer, who passed away in September 2021. The event brought together colleagues, family and friends from across the industry to reflect on Rick’s many achievements and remember a leader who inspired so many.

The dedication ceremony took place at the new Rick Caron Innovation Center located at Welbilt global headquarters.

Quotes from the memorial include:
  • ‘At Welbilt, his impact reverberated throughout the industry’
  • ‘Rick’s positive energy and ability to lead with good’
  • ‘The first to raise his hand and volunteer’
  • ‘Lead people to that vision’
  • ‘He was a remarkable leader and a great soul’
Friends from across Welbilt and the industry are invited to visit the Center in person or take a 3D virtual tour of Rick’s hallway. Serving as a tangible tribute to Rick’s ever-innovative approach, the Center features walls and windows with Rick’s writing, echoing how he would jot down ideas and work through solutions on whatever surface was immediately available.

The Center also captures many ‘Rick-isms’, to borrow a term from the ceremony, that will inspire many for years to come. Rick’s inspirational phrases and thoughts are inscribed on a plaque as “Words of Wisdom”.

The Center captures a key part of Rick’s legacy: his passion to inspire many others to continue to ask ‘what if?’ and encourage true innovation. Please enjoy watching Rick Caron and some of his memorable moments, watch below:
